N.J. Woman Files Lawsuit After Being Hit By Errant Throw From 11-Year-Old At Little-League Game
MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A New Jersey woman who was struck in the face with a baseball at a Little League game is suing the young catcher who threw it.
Elizabeth Lloyd is seeking more than $150,000 in damages to cover medical costs stemming from the incident at a Manchester Little League game two years ago. She's also seeking an undefined amount for pain and suffering.
There was a day and time when I would have bet my weight in baseballs that no sane adult would try to sue an eleven year old because they were hit by an errant pitch. I think I was around eleven. Fast forward about forty years and it's clear that I would lose that bet today.
That being said, I like to think that I would really feel bad if I were an eleven year old little leaguer who'd hit someone in the head with a bad throw. But if I were the judge hearing this case, I 'd be more than happy to hit her on the head (repeatedly) with the God-damn book!
