I Aint Sayin’ He Shoulda’ Killed Him…

Sheriff’s deputies in Texas refused to file charges against a father who beat a man to death after allegedly catching him sexually abusing his four-year-old daughter.

Some are saying he was wrong and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Others are saying he was right and should be vindicated.

Some are saying that justice was surely and swiftly served, while others are saying he had no right to administer that justice with his own hands.

Well…

I’m gonna’ err on the side of Chris Rock because, “I aint sayin’ he shoulda’ killed him… but?”

The Case of the Debt Ceiling Debate

The wife and I have reached an inevitable impasse after several weeks of heated and uncompromising negotiations over our mounting debt problems and inability to balance the household budget. The show stopper came when she insisted we borrow more money from our creditors – in order to better manage our expenses - rather than risk defaulting on our financial obligations.

Parenting

I suppose the most successful parents are the ones who have prepared their adult sons and daughters for life without them.

Thoughts On My Anniversary…

Fourteen years ago today, I had a remarkable and unforgettable conversation with a young woman, a PLYT, at a dinner party celebrating my brother-in-laws thirty-fifth birthday.

We talked about a lot of things that night; but what I remember most is the way she shared with me the innermost desires of her heart and the three things – above all else – she most aspired to be: A praying woman of God; A faithful wife; and a good mother.

So I made her my wife, and I made her a mother. And I will even go so far as to say I am partially responsible for having made her a woman of God, because that’s exactly what she had to become in order to have endured fourteen years of life by my side!

I’m not sure if she believes she has or will ever become that woman she aspired to be those many years ago, and it really doesn’t matter. Because to me… she has been that woman every single day for the last fourteen years!

Happy Anniversary … to me!
